Notes from the Training Staff – August 2015

For those of you who have read the August Newsletter...

Thanks for using the resources available to you to keep up with what is going on in the college softball world. The following will be “old news” so you can stop reading now and go back to reading the rule book.  For all others,  click on the heading above to see this entire article.

Fall Ball season…

Is fast approaching and now is the time to start preparing for the upcoming college season. We will use the current Rule Book (2014-2015) until the new Rule Book (2016-2017) is available for all Fall Ball games until further notice.

The document on our Locker Room which lists the Special Fall Ball Rules has been updated. It is located in the Rules Corner on the right panel; the link has been renamed Fall Ball 2015 Rules. Be sure to download this document, print it and take it with you to every Fall Ball game you umpire.

Latest on the Rules front…

We have had communications with the NCAA Softball Rules Editor regarding the rule changes which will be effective for the 2016-2017 seasons. Some of these changes are still being finalized with regard to wording and intent. Since they are not yet completely final and the coaches may not be aware of these changes, we will not use any of these rule changes during Fall Ball. Contact John Bennett if you have any questions.
