Rule changes for the 2024-2025 seasons

Due to the changes these articles and videos have been revised.

Rules Corner
• Pitching/Procedures: Here Comes the Pitch – changes made to reflect the legality to leap during the delivery.
• Pitching/Regulations: previous article Time allowed between pitches has been renamed to Pitching Rule Regulations. It now covers other regulations referenced in the pitching rule.
• The Game/Field Equipment Uniforms: changes in the bat’s knob rule has resulted in changes to both the knob and handle requirements, resulting in changes to the article Required Equipment.
• The Game/Participants: An additional paragraph has been added to the article Personnel during live ball based on the new rule regarding assistant coaches being prohibited from communicating with umpires.
• Defense/Obstruction – all articles covering obstruction have been updated with the changes in the rule for 2024-2025.

Game Management Corner:

• All articles which reference coaches has been updated with additional wording regarding assistant coaches being prohibited from communicating with umpires.
• General/Managing the Game: Video Review article updated.
• General/Game conditions: Protests and Forfeits article updated due to unannounced rule change on the forfeit protocol. The big change is only for the protest protocol for championship play.

Protocols Corner

Game Preparation: Pre-game Procedures article has added more detail to the section – At the Umpire/Coach pre-game meeting.

Training Information

• Updated the article Tips for Studying the Rule Book, and Tips for Studying the CCA Manual. You will have to scroll down to find this articles.

Videos section

Deleted the videos for the leaping violation and the time between pitches.
